“He hadn’t once ceased looking at Daisy, and I think he revalued everything in his house according to the measure of response it drew from her well-loved eyes. Sometimes, too, he stared around at his possessions in a dazed way, as though in her actual and astounding presence none of it was any longer real.” – if in this quote you recognized the wonderful masterpiece of The Great Gatsby, which frankly I’m inspired by on so many occasions, you will be fascinated by my discovery of a wonderful 4* hotel I have stumbled upon. A golden era design hidden in the mountains hovering over the city of Zakopane in the extreme South of Poland, this place will fascinate the lovers of epically romantic luxury. It wasn’t my first visit in this charming location and certainly not the last, and since I have had the opportunity of being a guest in many other facilities around, I can guarantee you that what I’m about to describe – is certainly the number 1 best hotel in Zakopane, Poland.
Bachleda Resort – Best Hotel in Zakopane, Poland
Crystal chandeliers reflecting over the refined wooden luxury pieces of decor have captured my attention the very first moment I have stepped into the place, taking me on what I would call a time travel journey back to the era of magnificence, without eliminating the local and traditional patterns characterizing Tatra mountains. Majestic stairs, that with their magnitude remind me of those we all know so well from the Titanic (well, a clock is missing and Titanic didn’t have these beautiful designs on every step), or those from the memorable scene from The Great Gatsby’s Hollywood interpretation where Leonardo Di Caprio raises his glass in a toast on his own party.
Yet even though the stairs are certainly the heart of the entrance to Bachleda Resort, they surely are not the most original piece of decoration you will see in the lobby. A wooden sculpture depicting a deer head, in reference to the mountain deer hunting from the past, is a great centerpiece on a wall kept completely in the local, traditional climate (and like I said, it’s completely wooden – cruelty-free).
All this is a magnificent addition to the warm and welcoming, elegant and pompous chimney (a similar one to what is going to be a main spot in the 2nd book I’m writing… but no more spoilers!) where it’s possible to enjoy your waiting time, have a meeting with someone from outside the hotel, or simply get inspired.
If you ever wanted to feel like you’re inside of a movie… you don’t even have to ask. Stepping into your classically beautiful room with original decors will certainly make it possible, in a more than vivid way. Perfectly matched with the style carpets, a luxury sofa, bed headpiece – as if the extremely comfortable mattresses weren’t enough already. Pines will enlighten your day, not letting you forget that even though you’re currently dipping in all of this golden splendor, you will find the true felicity in nature, located as closely to the hotel as you can only imagine. But the true beauty of the rooms in my opinion lays in the details, the symbolism of the black and light wooden console, the glass-case… not to mention the bathroom, where classical gold meets up with the modern design combinations.
Oh and the breakfast served in the room? Delicious.
The balcony of the room is probably one of the most spacious I have seen in all of the polish hotels I have had the possibility of visiting, and that means a lot. In the distance, you can observe the contour of the true gems Zakopane is known for – the beautiful Tatra Mountains, fascinating in their majesty and scary in their power. I’m sure a balcony like this would come in handy to rest after a full day of trekking… or driving to the top on a mountain line.
Pools & SPA
Water is certainly my own nature’s element (…or was it fire?). The only time I can truly unwind from my personal worries is when my body touches the water, preferably drifting on top of the salty seas or oceans. Maybe that’s why I usually don’t find myself well with pools, where getting a little bit of privacy is usually a matter of life and death (okay, I might be getting a little dramatic here). What’s most important though, is that the pool in Bachleda Resort… completely didn’t fit in this misconception of mine. The pompous design stole my heart at first sight, the intimacy of darkness, fire grilling in the walls and the romanticity of it all – makes me say that it might actually be the most beautiful and pleasant pool I have ever witnessed in any hotel. The only one I can even slightly compare to it is the castle chambers pool in Hotel Zamek Ryn on the other side of Poland, in the Masuria region (read about it here). It was a SPA for my senses even more than it was for my body, even though that part was also very nicely fulfilled.
My palate most probably hasn’t been so grateful to my dining choices since the last time I have stepped on the world class cruise ships. One way or the other, the restaurant’s design does resemble the interior of the famous White Star Line’s RMS Titanic or RMS Olympic, so I wasn’t that surprised when the food I was served has exceeded my expectations on all of the occasions. Believe me that when I returned there to order the exact same carbonara I’ve had before (and if you’ve tasted the true Italian carbonara you will know how difficult it is to make a perfect one), I didn’t even want to take a picture – just dive straight into it and moan while my tongue was getting into the creamy consistence of the sauce.
There’s also a lounge where you can enjoy the finest drinks and cocktails outside of your usual dining hours. With the main stairs leading up to them, it’s impossible to miss. Did I say something about the warmth of the place? Not only the coziness makes you want to stay there forever and romanticize your life on a daily basis, but the burning fire will spark a new vehemence in you as well.
One of the reasons I’m not hesitating at all when I say that Bachleda Resort is the best hotel in Zakopane, Poland – is because of its incredibly convenient location. Just a few steps away from the most famous, longest alley in Zakopane – Krupówki Street – it resides in the exact middle of the city centre. The panorama of the mountains can be seen from every single side you have around you there, and other attractions are literally metres away. One of them is the newly opened Be Happy Sweet Art & Illusion Museum if you’re into photography (I wrote about it here.) It’s a great starting point for shopping enthusiasts for sure, but mountain and nature lovers will also find themselves well starting their journey at the steps of Bachleda. It’s simply close to everything – and far from nothing.
